Kuujjuaq Forum facilities

Aqpik Jam

Kuujjuamiut Inc. operates the Kuujjuaq Forum. The Kuujjuaq Forum features three main facilities that continue to operate on a daily schedule, an ice arena, gymnasium, and fitness center.

Inaugurated in 1992 with community support from organizations such as the Municipality of Kuujjuaq and the Nayumivik Landholding Corporation, the Forum was constructed at a cost of approximately $13.5M dollars which was funded entirely from the compensation monies derived from the Kuujjuaq (1988) agreement. The Forum has provided many years of service to our community and continues to be the main venue for all types of sports, recreation and a wide range of cultural and community activities. We are also pleased to welcome back the annual Aqpik Jam music festival to where it originally started many years ago.

Hockey Arena

Hockey is a special focus in the community and, throughout the winter, players of different age groups may be seen practicing and playing team hockey games in the arena each evening.  As well, the arena schedule includes time for public skating, school visits, figure skating as well as specific training for players, coaches and parents.  It also hosts many hockey tournaments with teams from across Nunavik and abroad and is home to the Natturaliit Hockey Program.

Gymnasium

Featuring a full size gymnasium with customization for different  sports events, the Kuujjuaq Forum's gym is the place to go for indoor sports activities. Many of the Arctic Games Trials are held here due to the proximity of the Kuujjuaq Forum and its spacious facilities including the gymnasium.
